Paul was (gasp!) right?
Collossians 3:2 tells us to set our minds "on things above, not earthly things." Apparently even Paul knew that what we see, what we hear, what we think about, leads to how we behave.
Two thousand years later, it seems that researches at RAND have determined the same thing: Study links teen pregnancy to sexy TV shows.
So we now have a study refuting what the "pundits" who push this garbage on us have been telling us for years: "it’s just words," "it’s a reflection of society," "it doesn’t influence anyone’s behavior." Of course, they’ve been telling their advertisers "get exposure on the highest rated shows for the best return on your advertising dollar!"
Apparently in the TV Executive’s world, the show doesn’t have any influence, only the advertising. This logical disconnect is, of course, required if Jerry Bruckheimer is going to shove another "ground breaking (i.e. more nudity, sex, and violence than ever seen before)" show down our throats without causing a huge uproar.
Hopefully people are paying attention. The lie is now exposed (although I thought it was exposed years ago, when violent video games were found to cause violent behaviors in children…), but that won’t slow down Hollywood. They’ll still push forward more filth, because that’s what the American people want.
Those who watch TV, anyway….
