The Heights Of Hypocrisy

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, recently testified before a Congressional subcommittee that a proposed Cap and Trade bill would punish Americans with higher Energy Costs.  Which, of course, is the point of Cap and Trade - to make Carbon Based Energy less "cost effective" by pricing it in such a way that people prefer "alternative" energy sources.  These "alternatives" are always much more expensive than Carbon based energy, and that’s the point of increasing the cost of carbon!

"Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman of California accused Gingrich of trying to scare people into opposing action on climate change. Waxman argued the bill is designed to contain energy cost increases."

First, I find it hypocritical that Rep. Waxman would try to paint Gingrich as a fear-monger.  The entire Cap and Trade Industry is based on fear mongering.  We have only a few short moments to save the planet, and this is one way of doing it!

But wait, now there’s more!  We can do it in a way that doesn’t cost anyone anything!  Yes, prices will go up, but these Cap and Trade schemes are revenue neutral - that is, the Government will collect higher taxes and fees on polluters - the EVIL polluters will  pass that cost onto their customers (the American Citizens) - and the beneficent Government will then hand out rebate checks to the citizenry to help offset what the Evil Polluters are charging them!

There’s just one catch….if Energy Costs don’t change - why should I pay more for solar or wind than I do for my subsidized Carbon Based energy?

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
